Dr. Sophia J. Ommani’s journey in medicine is a testament to her dedication and passion for women’s health. With an impressive academic background, earning a B.S. in Biology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, an M.S. from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and an M.D. from the American University of St. Maarten, Dr. Ommani has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence. She completed her clinical years and residency training in New York City, an experience that honed her skills and prepared her for her role as an attending physician at West Virginia University Hospital. Driven by a desire to give back to her community, she returned to Corpus Christi, where she now serves as a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Her affiliations with the Women’s Empowerment Institute, Texas Medical Association, American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons underscore her leadership in the field. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Ommani enjoys running 5Ks, shopping, and spending quality time with her family. Despite her accomplishments, she remains relatable and grounded, admitting a quirky fear of Komodo dragons. Reflecting on her career, Dr. Ommani shares, “I truly love what I do! As an ob/gyn, I am a surgeon, counselor, and advocate. I have the opportunity to watch life unfold from the moment of conception and see strong women move through all phases of their lives. The best thing is I get to do all this in my favorite city with a great group of colleagues.” Her story is an inspiring example of how passion, dedication, and a commitment to community can drive a fulfilling and impactful career.
